RED DIGITAL CINEMA has announced the V-RAPTOR 8K S35 and V-RAPTOR XL 8K S35, which will include the new S35 sensor. These cameras have fast cinema-quality sensor scan times that are twice as fast as previous generation cinema cameras. RED DIGITAL CINEMA President Jarred Land spoke about the launch, saying, “V-RAPTOR and XL have created some of the best images I’ve ever seen, and now that quality is available to Super35 filmmakers.”

Notably, the V-RAPTOR XL 8K S35 includes a new built-in Neutral Density Electronic System allowing for precise density control in 1/4, 1/3 and full stops. This new system is useful for wildlife filming, where the camera’s compact and flexible setup allows wide-angle zoom lenses to be used. In addition, the S35 8K sensor provides a number of features such as shallower depth of field, slow motion playback and higher resolution. The V-RAPTOR 8K S35 is available for $17,995 and the V-RAPTOR XL 8K S35 is available for $34,995.
